“Vossa Reverência, no início de nossa viagem, o senhor teve a condescendência de deixar escapar uma palavra que dava a entender que, na viagem de volta, talvez decidisse parar no caminho no sagrado planeta Purgatório para ver a família de seu filho Tooilan. Se essa é realmente sua intenção, então será melhor que me dê a ordem para fazer isso agora, pois logo estaremos passando pelo sistema solar Khalmian e, se ao passarmos por esse sistema não direcionarmos a queda de nossa nave imediatamente mais para a esquerda, prolongaremos muito o caminho de sua queda.”

“Sim, por favor, meu caro capitão”, respondeu Belzebu. “Não há nada contra parar no caminho nesse planeta sagrado. Ninguém sabe se haverá outra ocasião tão feliz para eu ir até lá e visitar a família de meu querido filho Tooilan.”

Quando o capitão fez a saudação e estava prestes a sair, Belzebu, de repente, como se estivesse se lembrando, parou-o e dirigiu-se a ele com as seguintes palavras:

“Yes, please, my dear Captain,” Beelzebub replied. “There is nothing against stopping on the way at this holy planet. No one knows whether there will be another such happy occasion for me to go there and visit the family of my dear son Tooilan.”

When the captain saluted and was on the point of going out, Beelzebub suddenly, as if remembering, stopped him and addressed him in the following words:

“My request to you is that you consent after the visit to the holy planet Purgatory, to give our ship Karnak such a course of falling that on the way we may reach the surface of the planet Deskaldino.
